General Manager’s Roll for Local Government Elections

Local government elections are held every four years in October (next: October 2026). 

Tasmanian councils represent their communities and provide local services and infrastructure. 

Voting 
  • Compulsory for people on the State Electoral Roll 
  • Not compulsory for those on the General Manager’s Roll 
Who can vote in Devonport? 

You can vote if you are: 

  • On the State Electoral Roll at a Devonport address, or 
  • Enrolled on the General Manager’s Roll for Devonport 
General Manager’s Roll – Eligibility 

You may be eligible if you: 

  • Live in Devonport but are not eligible for the State Electoral Roll (e.g. not an Australian citizen), or 
  • Own or occupy property in Devonport but don’t live there, or 
  • Are a representative of a company that owns or occupies property in Devonport 

Enrolment is not automatic — you must apply. 

How to apply 

Complete the appropriate form: 

Submit by:
  • Mail – Devonport City Council, PO Box 604, Devonport TAS 7310 
  • In person at Devonport City Council – paranaple centre, Level 2, 137 Rooke Street, Devonport TAS 

You will be notified in writing if your application is approved or rejected.
